March Lines

It might have been a cold, dark, wet night but there was a great turn out to our latest evening meeting which was held in Murton Village Institute where we looked at Lines in Embroidery; using stitches and threads creatively. Anne and Catherine showed an impressive collection of worked pieces, it was fascinating to see what could be created using a colour scheme and one type of stitch.

There was a real buzz to the room as we all started to embroider lines using a familiar stitch and then learning a new stitch. There was plenty of inspiration available via books, the pieces brought in and Anne and Catherine were very encouraging.

It was decided that we would make samples/pieces for an exhibition. The maximum size to be 10" square, to be continued at our 'Sew In' mornings or individually at home.

Our next meeting is a 'Sew In', 9.30am to 12.30pm Tuesday 15th March.
